Is it safe to drive with the check engine light on?
It depends on what the light is doing. A flashing light usually means the engine is misfiring, so stop driving it and call us. A steady light means the engine computer has stored a fault. It is usually less urgent, but have it checked soon, and pull over if the car starts running rough, overheating or losing power.
What does a check engine light diagnostic involve?
We connect a scan tool to the OBD-II port, read the stored codes and watch live data with the engine running. Then we test the system the code points to, such as ignition, fuel, sensors or wiring, until we find the actual fault. You get a clear explanation and a quote before any parts are replaced.
Can a mobile mechanic diagnose a check engine light at my house or work?
Yes. We bring the scan tool and test equipment to your driveway, workplace, apartment complex or office parking lot, anywhere in Northwest Arkansas where we have safe, legal access to the vehicle. No tow and no drop-off.
Why not just read the code at a parts store?
A code reader tells you which code is stored, not why it set. A code points at a problem; it doesn't always answer it. P0420 isn't always a catalytic converter, and P0300 isn't always plugs. We test the system before recommending a part, so you don't pay for one you didn't need.
How fast can you come out?

Can you diagnose any check engine light?
Yes. We diagnose all OBD-II vehicles (1996 and newer), including domestic, import, gas, and most light-duty diesel vehicles.
Will you fix it on the same visit?
Most of the time, yes. If it's a common repair and we have the parts on the truck, we knock it out the same day. Larger jobs may need a follow-up visit.
What if it's something you can't fix on-site?
We'll tell you straight. If a job needs a lift, special tooling, or full teardown, we'll let you know up front and point you in the right direction.
Do I need to be home during the diagnostic?
Not always. If the vehicle is accessible and we can reach you by phone, we can usually run the diagnostic and call you with the results.
